Network Infrastructure

Server99's Internet Data Center (IDC) was engineered from the ground up to serve as a 24/7, zero-downtime, cutting-edge datacenter facility.

Connectivity

Server99 has connections to several different carriers, each featuring different network topologies. This enables us to concentrate on providing quality managed server solutions, without having to allocate resources to build and manage a national tier-1 network of our own.

Routing

Server99 utilizes BGP-4 (Border Gateway Protocol 4) between the Server99 network and our network service providers, and OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) within our internal network. BGP evaluates packets leaving our network and selects the optimum route based upon a preset algorithm. This enables Optimization - several different paths to a particular destination network, the most optimum route will be selected, as well as Redundancy - in the event that one path, or the optimum path should fail, network traffic will be re-routed automatically to the next best route. Server99 is proud to have deployed a 100% Cisco powered switched network, utilizing Cisco 7513 Series Core Routers, Cisco 7206 VXR Series Border Routers, and Cisco 5500/6500 Series Ethernet Aggregation Switches.

Guaranteed Packet Delivery and Round Trip Times

Server99 receives full Transit connectivity from our providers. This means that because we pay for our bandwidth, unlike providers that have a majority of peering (free) connectivity, and use a single transit provider as a last resort, we can guarantee packets to exit our network and be routed to the end user within specific time allotments. As our transit connections each hold their own Service Level Agreement (SLA) (peering arrangements usually do not have any associated SLA ) we are able to build a Service Level Agreement (SLA) for our customer base that is leading the way in the managed/dedicated server market.

Bandwidth Utilization

At Server99 we monitor all of our provider uplinks, this enables to proactively provision additional capacity BEFORE it is required. Our network operates at 20 - 30 percent of our actual peak capacity allowing us to accommodate for the fluctuation and bandwidth peaks often associated with high-bandwidth, industry leading web site properties. This policy also prevents link saturation and network latency if we experience a provider uplink failure, and traffic is re-routed to an over-capacity connection.

 Network Service Providers

Providers that we select for our network undergo a variety of strict speed, latency, and capacity evaluations before being selected to route our customer's traffic. Our senior network architects continually monitor our current selection of providers as well as others in the marketplace to formulate network growth and future service provider candidates.
